A relatively large group of 8 vehicles met up at the Ampol. We had a quick run through convoy procedures and then headed north to Lancelin. Kim was running behind but ended up ahead of us on the road. One visitor, Avinash, was running late but we were all able to met up at Lancelin, making the convoy 10 vehicles strong. Alan & his son Shannon, took on the role of Tail End Charlie.
After a relaxing break at the Lancelin Bakery, we made our way to the dunes. Next our tyres were let down so we headed into the dunes at 15psi. There were some quite firm dunes with amazing shapes, as the damp sand was holding together nicely. There were very few if any, double razorbacks but we had a good time cruising around. The razorbacks provided some learning curves for some.

Towards lunch time we headed to the coast. As reported on the news there was little beach available. So we parked up nicely near the water and had a relaxing lunch break. Afterwards we headed back into the dunes with our tyres now at 12Psi. I took some more challenging lines but I still didn’t manage to get anyone stuck. I had to resort to recovering a couple of young brothers who were bogged in a Hilux.
After another hour or so we headed out of the dunes to pump up the tyres. I had a good time and the visitors seemed to really enjoy themselves. Thanks to the old hands who came along to keep the ratio of experienced members to visitors safe.
